The course updates the expertise of radiation protection supervisors in the field of X-ray technology for both medical and non-medical applications (all expertise groups except R10). It is aimed at qualified personnel in industry, research, and administration (laboratory technicians, engineers, safety professionals, and scientists) who deal with radiation protection issues related to X-ray equipment and stray radiation sources. The course includes the ARG, ARA, and ARQ modules.
The following topics are covered:
- Current legal regulations
- Operation of X-ray equipment and stray radiation sources
- Type approval, licensing, and notification procedures
- Radiation protection executives and supervisors
- Dose definitions, dose limits, dose measurement
- Tasks and responsibilities of radiation protection supervisors
- Quality assurance for X-ray equipment
- Measurement of ionizing radiation.
The course concludes with an exam. Successful participation is recognized by the responsible regulatory authority for updating expertise in radiation protection for expert knowledge groups R1 to R8, with nationwide validity.
